Who We Are
Barker Blagrave & Associates Dietetics Professional Corporation (BB&A) which was founded in 1997, is incorporated under the Ministry of Government Services and the College of Dietitians of Ontario. Our original founders, Christine Barker and Paula Blagrave went into partnership to form one of the first companies in Ontario which provided clinical and administrative dietitian services to LTC Homes. In 1998, when the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care mandated dietitian time for all LTC Homes in Ontario, our company offered a much needed service, and helped to seal our reputation as an honest, skilled, supportive and service oriented provider.
In response to increased demand for our services, Julie Urbshott became a partner in the business in 2010 followed by Sarah Faulds in 2014. In August 2017, Paula and Christine retired from actively managing BB&A. Both continue to provide consultative services while the day to day operations are managed by Sarah and Julie.
We are comprised of two Directors and a team of Associate Dietitians, as specified below.
Julie and Sarah oversee the team of BB&A dietitians, meeting regularly to provide education opportunities and guidance, and to ensure a consistent approach to dietetic and nutrition care practice in all LTC Homes where they provide dietitian services.
The Directors and all Associate Dietitians:
- Are members in good standing of the College of Dietitians of Ontario (CDO)
- Maintain professional liability insurance
- Provide service in a manner that adheres to the professional Code of Ethics and CDO’s Standards of Practice and that respects Resident Rights and the confidentiality of health information according to PHIPA guidelines
- Participate in regular professional development/continuing education opportunities.
